Conjuring up fantasy garages, I know I am not the only one around these parts with this sickness. You know what I'm talking about... The what cars would I buy if I won the lotto/got an inheritance from my rich uncle/suddenly became the Sultan of Brunei, list. We have done the what would you get if you had X dollars questions a million times, but how often does this list change?
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! And To be perfectly honest, I don't know at what intervals I adjust my multi-million dollar wish list, but I can tell you this
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
10 years ago the Carrera 2.7RS was not on the list
5 years ago, the NSX was not on the list
1 year ago the 635 CSI was not on the list
and last month the De Tomaso Pantera was not on the list.
Now you are probably thinking, "That's great Automatch, those cars are awesome they were always on my list. What took you so damn long? And what is off the list?" (Sorry for that, imposing thoughts on a reader is a big no-no. But I'm not a professional so it's o.k.)
Newest Mid-Engined V8 Ferrari
Usually when I made this list, I always had Modena's newest creation near the top. Now, I certainly love these cars but not sure I really would want to own one. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Bugatti Veyron
Baddest in car the land...sure. Could I enjoy it at legal speeds? Not so sure.
Current gen M5
Similar to the Ferrari, I constantly longed for the most ultimate of driving machine saloons. But I think I'd rather have an E39, or if I am going to buy new, the S8 or even the Model S seem more appealing for some odd reason.
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg on the adjustments I have made over the years. Don't get me started on my vintage Alfa additions.
Has your fantasy garage changed much over time, if so how?

Not much. For me my vehicles (with first ones are the ones that change the least) is
240z, R34 GTR, NSX, SLS AMG, 70's GTR, Ken Block's Gymkhana Focus (or any rally spec focus), and a Ferrari F430 (I like 430s better than 458s. Dunno why).
Really, my dream garage consists of cars that I've loved as a kid. Feeling that invoke why I became a car enthusiast. Not about what the figures and specs show. These are cars that if I see at a car show, I pull up a chair and reminisce about the first time I saw it. Even if my tastes do change, I feel that these cars are timeless, and would sell my 2nd born child for one.
Also, I feel that I should don my flame suit on for this one, but R34 is the best GTR (when comparing between r32 and r33).

30 years ago it was the Mercedes 500 SL. Ever since then it's been whatever the latest 911 Turbo is. Just recently I've added the Jaguar XFR-S and new Range Rover Sport

Mine really hasn't changed since the new Morgan 3 wheeler debuted.

If I had to have a top 3 car garage, well that hasn't changed since I was like 13.
Mercedes SSK, Mercedes 190E Evolution II, and Mazda RX7 Spirit R.
The top 4 even has been stable since 2008.
But 5 and back gets tricky. I'll change that fifth spot between 3 or 4 cars every few months. I suppose i could just put them in a blanket top ten or so.

For me, it changes once a year, every time we go to the pebble beach gooding auction. I always see something I've never heard of, but then I simply NEED to have. Also, the first time we went, '30s cars were never on my list. Now, I love them.
Other than that, there's about 9-10 cars that are always on my list, and the rest very often.

My stays pretty static, but each individual member rises and falls in popularity month-to-month. Every now and again something new creeps in, but nothing really leaves.

It doesn't change. It merely expands.

Mine has stayed pretty damned consistent over the last couple of years. This partly because I don't have much desire for supercars or hypercars. My automotive lusts lie primarily in taking more average, attainable-yet-rare cars and modifying them to suit my tastes and desires. Here's my current top 10:
1) 1977 Toyota Celica GT RA29 18R-G W50
2) 1995 Audi RS2 Avant
3) 2007 Saab 9-2X Aero
4) 2013 Subaru BRZ
5) 1986 Alfa Romeo GTV-6 Callaway with NACA-spec hood swap.
6) 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi
7) Simpson Design Italia II GTB
8) 1992 BMW M3 Sport Evolution 2.5
9) Bowler EXR S
10) 2013 Ariel Atom 3 Supercharged
Some of the typical 'Jalop' cars aren't on here, but they're farther down the list due to their price and ease of obtaining. NA Miatas, RX-7 FC's, AW11 MR2's, Opel GT's, 240z/260z's, etc., are cheap and easy enough to find that one doesn't need to win the lottery to get them, as plenty can be found for under $10k.

Don't know why you'd want a datsun, a newer datsun, a honda, and a v8 ferrari. If you ask me you can do much better.

Yeah I've been in love with fd rx7s since I was 12. I understand your sentiments towards it.

My top four (Ford GT, XJ220, 288 GTO, 1989 Turbo) are pretty much in cement and have been for quite some time. Five on, however, vary wildly, although consistent contenders include the C4 ZR1, E39 M5, and the Diablo.

I can, but then again, I don't really care for how something costs or their specs. These are the cars that I had posters of on my wall as a kid. They just bring out the child like enthusiasm in me. I'd love to say, sure I want a ford GT or a konigsegegggeggg in my garage, but truthfully, I don't care too much about those cars. I love that theyre engineering marvels, but nothing about them really makes me go "wow" for some reason.
I mean, if I could add anything else to my list, it would be a Caterham R500 and a Morgan Aero 8. I really like Morgans.

In my opinion you are right about the R34. I think that was the best followed right behind with the 33 having the 32 behind that and trailing at the back is the 35. The 2000gt-r however towers above them all but I wouldn't want to use it as a DD so I keep it separate from the others.

Yeah. I like the R34 mainly because it seems a lot beefier than the R33. Also, the R34 seems a bit boxier, but those angles make it seem a lot more aggressive. The R33 is a close second favorite of mine, but I'll take an R35 over an R33. I don't know why, but theres something about the R35 that makes me stop and go "wow. I love this car."

The FD is really the odd one out, i have no reason to like it other than it's pretty and I have a slight soft spot for Mazdas. Though, i've never owned one. But it's crept into my heart so much that I hope to make a replica Spirit R one day or if the money and the legal system works importing a real one.

Mine is fairly fluid. It has mostly to do with the peramiters. If someone says "Three cars for life, go". It's going to include a work of art like a singer 911, a track car like an Exige S, and a DD like an RS2. but if the number goes up to five or ten cars, or if there is a budget, You might see one of those cars sticking around. It has to do with the cars that evoke my emotions, fit my interest in what a car should be (depending on its intended purpose), and how the car fits me and my needs. As you can see, I care much more about the latter, than getting the most bang for my buck financially or by capabilities on paper. I find myself agreeing with Richard Hammond when he says a car is about what makes you go "WOW" like a five year old every time you see one, let alone drive it.

Your new car section is pretty much my new car section. I would drive to Sterling, VA and buy something off of Ferrari of Washington's lot.
Probably this if it were today (drove by there yesterday actually, didn't buy anything)
Or possibly next door, I would pick up this Aventador .
Beyond that, a new M5 would become my daily driver without question.
The Veyron would be interesting, curious what it would actually cost , so I would only go there if I were in the hundreds of millions probably.
From there, not sure. I'm a Ford guy so I would probably just take out $100K at a time out with me in a cool briefcase and pick up some used nuggets like a new GT500, a Ford GT (gonna need a couple briefcases for that one), a Raptor (saw a Roush Raptor yesterday, badass), and probably an Expedition or Excursion with a nice trailer to bring stuff home in.
I daydream about this all the time, it's a lot of fun.

I traded it for a Ford Focus. :( The new owner got T-boned in DC, saw it on a 9-2X forum. :( :(
I trade frequently and decided to do a dual-car setup with the Focus as a DD and a 350Z as a fun car. Was a great plan for awhile until I realized I spent 90% of my time in the Ford and the remaining time looking for reasons to go run an errand in the Z. And this was before the Focus was good.
Traded both of those for a 2009 G35S sedan. Traded that for a 2010 Mustang GT. Traded that Mustang for a 2011 Mustang, because 5.0. This goes on for awhile and there have been another half a dozen since then.
Regardless, the Saabaru was a great option, basically a WRX but with a nice interior and IMO a better look. It had great looking two tone leather seats, very comfortable, decent room inside. I took my Dad autocrossing on a very rainy day and had a blast.

What is this fantasy car list you speak of? I have fantasy car lists if that's what you mean. I'll categorize for example there is a list of track cars but also road cars and in road cars its splits even more like super wagons and sports saloons. They constantly change except classic/antiques. Top of those i would say Lancia Delta Evo 3, Ford Pinto (i have my reasons), Jensen Interceptor Ragtop, Talbot-Lago T150 SS Teardrop coupe, and the '97 Marcos Mantis (may not be all that classic but hey can't go wrong). I do have a Lancia Delta Evo 2 (compound charged) but not the Evo 3 sadly. I would say some other top 5's but as i said they are constantly changing and might not be the same five minutes from now.

my unlimited money list that changes a lot. my attainable fantasy list stays mostly the same. I have noticed the average age of my ultimate fantasy list is going up quite rapidly, certainly faster than the years are progressing in real time...
